In Germany a recent trend has been these displays of public bookshelves.
The Germany councils in certain cities take ugly old street beaten pieces of outdoor furniture and turn them into mini librarys where people can just take books and swap them, take books, add books, and just enjoy another source of literature.
A nice little idea to create a more interesting society.
